One Time (Wreck City Sundial)

One Time; a two storey detached garage converted into a sundial.
The building belonged to one of an entire block of houses, slated for demolition to make way for a condo development. A hole cut in the roof allowed for light to pass into the dark interior of the upper floor, creating a patch of light that travelled from the west to east corners of the room. A bar across the hole cast a shadow upon the patch. The audience was encouraged to fill in the line with chalk indicating the juncture of two narratives and the marks they make on each other; person and place. As the sun continues its trajectory the lines sweep across the floor, and the following day they land further south in the room to reflect the climbing spring sun. The chalk line is left is only a memory that fades with each footprint.

This installation was part of WRECKCITY.
